Scocha

SCOCHA was born when Iain SCOtt and David CHApman (SCO-CHA) got together to share their love of music and song.

Both from Hawick, a town with a long standing fine tradition in song, they began to play local gigs and functions around the Scottish Borders. They were soon spotted and commissioned to make 6 “Clans” TV programmes which were broadcast ITV.

The combination of Iain’s strong vocals and noted talent in musical arrangement combines superbly with David’s natural feel for an audience and quick-witted banter. It was not long before a loyal following developed and their first CD “Bordering On” was released to wide acclaim.

Phil Clayton, a talented guitar and bass player originally from Rochdale but residing in the Borders, joined the boys for the album, and the launch concert. And then there were three!

2004 saw the release of the highly acclaimed “The Land We Love” album which was launched with a “World Tour of the Borders”. The album features a well polished compilation of traditional and new songs written by the lads. Fellow Hawick lad and multi-instrumentalist Alan Brydon composed the track Battle Dawn and joined the lads on the CD and on the tour. And then there were four!

The latest album “Gie’d Sum Wellie” is their most anticipated and sought after cd so far with advanced sales coming in from around the world, reflecting the growing demand for Scocha’s unique brand of “Folk ‘n’ Roll”.

With a wide reaching and enthusiastic loyal fan base Scocha’s music is spreading fast with concerts and appearances at festivals alongside such acts as the Proclaimers, Deacon Blue, and the Saw Doctors. The recent appearances in New York winning a whole wave of new fans.

Foot stomping, sing-along, rousing, emotional, heart pounding, a Scocha gig is packed with the feel-good factor. Traditional Scottish and Celtic music and song with a Rock n Roll attitude.

It’s impossible to listen to Scocha without instinctively stomping your feet.
